Charlie Taylor makes his feelings clear on Twitter about Leeds selling Alex Mowatt
By Alex Stevens
Charlie Taylor claimed Alex Mowatt will be “massively missed” at Leeds following his transfer to Barnsley on Friday.
The midfielder, 21, moved to Paul Heckingbottom’s side for an undisclosed fee and signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
It ended Mowatt’s spell at his boyhood club after graduating from the club’s academy into the first team, the same path trodden by Taylor.
The left-back, who is currently sidelined with an achilles problem, took to Twitter on Friday night to explain his regret that his teammate had severed his ties with the Yorkshire giants.
Taylor posted an image of Mowatt celebrating a goal with himself and a third academy product in Sam Byram, who moved to West Ham 12 months ago.

“Will be massively missed on and off the pitch,” wrote Taylor, 23, in a clear hint at his close relationship with Mowatt. “Go smash it bud.”

Mowatt was sold at a time when he had only six months remaining on his Leeds contract, which is the same situation as Taylor.
The future of the first choice Leeds left-back has been up in the air since he slapped in a transfer request at the start of the season.
The Elland Road hierarchy refused to cash in on Taylor last summer and reportedly rebuffed bids of £7million for him from three Premier League clubs earlier this month, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and West Brom.
In other Leeds news, there has been a finale in a major deal after a £7million Leeds bid was tabled.
