Chelsea ace did ‘something really bad behind scenes’ – Fans shocked by Maresca

Enzo Maresca has sparked a furious reaction from Chelsea fans over the “embarrassing” way he has treated one exit-bound star.

The Italian coach was criticised in his latest press conference as his team prepares to face League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup for his comments on exiled Ben Chilwell.

The England international has been out of favour since Maresca joined the club and has not played a single minute this season.

He confirmed that he will not feature in the cup fixture and said: “Chilwell, for him, I think in this moment is thinking he is probably going to leave. So it is probably better to avoid using him to avoid that kind of situation, [in case of] an injury or these kinds of things.”

He added, “So, the plan is not to use Ben tomorrow” [via chelseafc.com]. Despite the transparency on the situation, fans have showed their disapproval of the “disrespect” shown to the full-back.

Chelsea fans aren’t happy with the treatment of Ben Chilwell

Chilwell is expected to leave the West London club, with the player potentially being handed a severance deal so his exit can be quicker.

However suitors may be in there few as as it could be difficult to move the defender on due to his high wage demands.

He has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with Marc Cucurella the preferred left-back in league matches and Renato Veiga favoured in cup competitions.

However, Veiga has reportedly expressed a desire to move due to his limited playing time. Still, it’s unlikely that Chilwell will remain, as Maresca has not played him a single time in the Premier League this season.

Fans are unhappy with the harsh comments from the coach, particularly since the defender has remained professional and refrained from making a fuss about his lack of playing time.

One fan described the treatment of Chilwell as “nothing short of disgraceful” while another expressed support for him, stating, “He hasn’t created any drama despite the disrespect”.

Another supporter suggested the left-back must have done “something really bad behind the scenes” to get this treatment from his manager, while another called it “weird”.
