Chelsea ace Enzo Fernandez bids farewell after shock development
Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has split from his childhood sweetheart, with his former partner confirming the break-up on social media.
Fernandez, 23, and his influencer wife, Valentina Cervantes, 24, met in their native Argentina and share two children: a daughter born in March 2020 and a son born in October 2023.
Cervantes followed the central midfielder from Argentina to Portugal when he joined Benfica before moving to London together when he made the record-breaking £106.8million move to Stamford Bridge in January 2023.
After only 18 months in the capital, the couple has decided to end their relationship, with Fernandez reportedly preferring to live alone, according to Argentinian journalist Julieta Argenta.
Enzo Fernandez under pressure at Chelsea
Fernandez hasn’t quite lived up to the hype since making the move to Chelsea and has seemingly fallen down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
The midfielder captained the side in their first league game against Man City but has failed to start in their last two Premier League games against Liverpool and Newcastle.
The split appears to be amicable, with Cervantes crediting Fernandez’s character and calling him an ‘Excellent father’.
Relationship troubles may have been the source of his poor form, with Cervantes taking to Instagram to share the news.

Translated from the original Spanish, the message says, “With Enzo today we say distance from each other. But we will always be family and support each other through everything. Because there are two kids in the middle that need a lot of our love for them.
“I know the person and excellent father Enzo is, and the heart he has. And that’s enough for me. They don’t want to create wars where there aren’t any.”
