Chelsea backed to complete Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signing after update – pundit

Chelsea must sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after losing Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

According to Telegraph journalist Matt Law (4 August), Chelsea are interested in bringing Aubameyang back to the Premier League this summer – with the striker interested in a potential move.

Arsenal

Aubameyang scored 20 goals in 38 games for Barcelona and Arsenal last season despite being frozen out and losing the captaincy after mid-season disciplinary issues at the Emirates.

The striker is under contract at Barcelonan until the summer of 2025.

Wenham insists the move could happen with Chelsea in “desperate” need of a new striker.

“Chelsea are desperate for a forward,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There are talks about Werner leaving on loan so that would be him and Lukaku gone. What does that leave them with?

“It leaves them with Armando Broja, who is pushing to leave and Havertz as a false nine. It’s not that worrying, is it?

“It’s not exciting so they definitely need to sign a forward. Aubameyang is Premier League proven and he knows London.

“Barcelona have obviously decided they don’t want him after signing Lewandowski this summer. I can see this one happening.”

Chelsea

Aubameyang has scored 68 goals across 128 total games in the Premier League.

He also notched 79 strikes in 95 outings under current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund.
