‘Chelsea consider Tyrique George exit after Jamie Gittens deal’
Chelsea could let young attacker Tyrique George depart the club this summer as they close in on completing a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.
Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market ahead of their return to the Champions League, with Gittens soon set to join alongside the likes of Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Geovany Quenda and Mamadou Sarr.
Former scout Mick Brown first told Football Insider in January that Chelsea were keen on a move for Gittens, who played for the Blues’ academy as a youngster, and they moved that interest forward with numerous bids for his services over the last few weeks.
Chelsea initially had a £42million bid for Gittens rejected in early June, but their bid of £55m for his services was recently accepted by Borussia Dortmund and he is now set to have a medical at the Stamford Bridge outfit ahead of a move [BBC].

Tyrique George could leave Chelsea on loan this summer
Gittens’ impending arrival at Chelsea is set to bolster Enzo Maresca’s attacking depth, but would also push academy graduate George down the winger pecking order after his breakthrough last season.
Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Chelsea are planning to offer George a new long-term contract at the club soon, and he has been expecting to remain at Stamford Bridge for the 2025/26 campaign after his breakthrough under Maresca, according to a report from The Mail last month.
The Athletic have now reported otherwise though, saying that the club are “considering” loaning George out this summer, as there is interest from “a lot of clubs” in the 19-year-old and the Blues want him to continue his development with regular game time being a priority.
They state that 20-year-old Gittens has now joined up with Chelsea to undergo a medical and is expected to be announced as an official signing soon, and so it does look as if his impending arrival has triggered the possibility of George’s exit.
George deserves a Chelsea chance but should leave with game-time at a premium
Football Insider verdict
George’s breakthrough into Maresca’s squad last season was something that has become an increasing rarity at Chelsea over the last few years, with their focus on achieving success meaning the pathway to the first-team has been largely blocked for academy players.
He impressed in his maiden season in the Blues’ senior set-up, but clearly not enough for the clubs chiefs to think he is definitely worthy of retaining for next season.

Chelsea’s Conference League venture meant they were able to hand opportunities to numerous young players last term, but their return to the Champions League means emerging stars like George are unlikely to get a look in over their array of imported attacking talent.
Gittens’ arrival will push him further down the pecking order, and so an exit seems like the wisest thing for him and his career with more game-time likely at a lower Premier League side or even abroad.
