Chelsea could start next season on negative points in new twist – sources

Chelsea could receive a points deduction before the start of the 2024-25 season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Blues could receive a quick verdict for their alleged breaches under Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea are currently under investigation after reporting “potential financial irregularities” found in their accounts during Abramovich’s tenure.

The Londoners self-reported their findings to the Premier League and could now face a fine, points deduction or relegation if found guilty.

As revealed by Football Insider, Chelsea chief Todd Boehly is “definitely expecting a transfer ban” next season.

It is understood that the irregularities found in Chelsea’s accounts includes secret payments and fees paid by offshore accounts under Abramovich’s ownership.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke believes the Blues could face a verdict before the start of next season.

I think we could have a verdict before the start of next season,” he said.
