‘Chelsea make Tosin Adarabioyo exit decision as Jorrel Hato move accelerates’

Chelsea are set to strengthen their backline as Enzo Maresca continues to oversee a busy transfer window.

The West Londoners have added plenty of firepower to their ranks this summer, including Liam Delap, former Brighton striker Joao Pedro, and ex-Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

Pedro has already shown his class for Maresca’s men, firing them to Club World Cup glory with goals in both the semi-final and final.

Meanwhile, thanks to the size of their squad, Chelsea will have to facilitate outgoings alongside any further incomings.

Tosin set for Chelsea exit as Hato interest advances

Amid Maresca’s efforts to bolster his defence, Chelsea have eyed Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, who was a key player for the Netherlands in this summer’s Under-21 European Championships.

The 19-year-old can comfortably operate as both a left-back and a centre-back, while his versatility would be ideal for a Blues side who are set for a Champions League campaign.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports revealed via their live blog [23 July, 12.51pm] that the Blues are in talks with Ajax over Hato, but any further arrivals at Stamford Bridge are dependent on exits.

Sky’s update added that the Ajax man is one of several centre-backs Maresca’s side have been eyeing.

Therefore, fellow defender Tosin Adarabioyo is likely to make a Chelsea departure after making just 15 Premier League starts last term.

The former Fulham man was an unused substitute when the West London giants defeated PSG in the Club World Cup final.

Tosin could be a great option for another Premier League club

Tosin has fallen behind the likes of Levi Colwill in Maresca’s pecking order, and fellow defender Trevoh Chalobah has become a regular feature for Chelsea once again, since returning from his loan stint with Crystal Palace in January.

Tosin has endured a lack of regular game time at Chelsea

Unlike the Manchester City academy graduate, Chalobah featured in every knockout game of the Blues’ triumphant Club World Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, the seemingly imminent addition of Hato, or another centre-back, would further reduce Tosin’s chances of enjoying regular game time at Stamford Bridge.

However, the 27-year-old’s previous showings for Fulham prove that he could be a solid acquisition for another Premier League club.

Furthermore, after signing the defender on a free transfer last summer, the Blues could be keen to offload their man for a quick profit, after he has been unable to nail down a regular spot in Maresca’s lineup.

Chelsea would also find it easier to offload Tosin than fellow centre-back Wesley Fofana, who is highly injury-prone.
