Chelsea expected 3-4-3 v Manchester City: Midfield duo omitted

By Emma Sanders

Antonio Conte is likely to name an unchanged side for the seventh league game in a row as his side prepare to take on Manchester City in the latest Premier League blockbuster.

The two sides go head-to-head at the Etihad on Saturday and Chelsea have no serious injury concerns ahead of the game so should keep an unchanged team.

This means that attacking midfield duo Willian and Oscar, who have been reduced to fringe status in recent weeks, are set to be once again be omitted.

The Blues sit a point off City at the top of the table and have been in excellent form recently, recording eight straight victories and conceding just once against Tottenham last Saturday.

Diego Costa, the Premier League’s joint top goal-scorer alongside Sergio Aguero, has already provided four assists and scored 10 goals so will no doubt start up front for Chelsea.

Thibaut Courtois is expected to retain the number one spot while Chelsea’s successful back three of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta should start.

Victor Moses has been in great form of late and he will be expected to start on the right wing, with Marcos Alonso resuming his spot on the opposite flank.

N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic should retain their positions as holding midfielders, allowing the attacking trio of Eden Hazard, Costa and Pedro to cause problems.

In other Chelsea news, this senior man is expected to quit the club in the summer.
