By Emma Sanders

Chelsea prepare to take on West Ham at the London Stadium in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and they are expected to welcome the return of four senior players.

John Terry is expected to start for Chelsea as Antonio Conte tweaks the team that thrashed Manchester United 4-0 on Sunday.

Willian, Oscar and Michy Batshuayi are also in line for first-team recalls after sitting out the United demolition.

Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta lined up in defence against Jose Mourinho’s side but Conte is expected to bring Terry in at centre-back. and Cahill could be the player to drop out of the team.

Willian and Oscar are expected to make a return but Conte is likely to start just Willian, with Oscar most likely featuring as a substitute.

Victor Moses could also start on the right, while Batshuayi and Eden Hazard are expected to line up in attack.

Cesc Fabregas and Branislav Ivanovic are still struggling to regain full fitness after picking up injuries and will most likely be left out of the squad.

N’Golo Kante should retain his position in midfield, notching up his 10th appearance of the season while Nemanja Matic is also expected to start.

Marcus Alonso could be a new addition as a left wing-back alongside Kante and Matic in midfield as Asmir Begovic will almost definitely replace Thibaut Courtois in goal.

The last time the two sides faced at Stamford Bridge, the Hammers were defeated 2-1 in the season opener as Chelsea kick-started the 2016-17 campaign in encouraging fashion.

In other Chelsea team news, this senior figure is set to boost Conte’s side ahead of West Ham clash.
