Chelsea fans all say the same as Blues ‘humiliated’ in Antoine Semenyo transfer race

Chelsea supporters are embarrassed by their club’s reason for pulling out of the race for Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.

Enzo Maresca’s side had enquired about the Bournemouth star before next month, joining the likes of Man City, Man United, Liverpool, and Tottenham in the queue for his signature.

With 29 goals and 11 assists across the last two-and-a-half seasons at the Vitality Stadium, it is not at all surprising to see so many clubs keep track of the player’s situation with the Cherries.

Football Insider understands that Liverpool are going all out to sign Semenyo after the injury to Alexander Isak, but it appears that the Citizens have pulled ahead in the race for the £65million winger.

Whatever happens, it is already known that the Blues pulled out of competing for the 25-year-old before the race had even begun, and it’s safe to say that the fans were unhappy with the decision.

With Pep Guardiola now looking likely to acquire the winger’s services, Blues fans are even more furious, given that those at Stamford Bridge apparently believe in their current options.

Chelsea fans are in disbelief that players such as Jamie Gittens are seen as good enough for Maresca, with one supporter stating that the club have been “humiliated” in the race for Semenyo instead.

Multiple supporters have questioned exactly who the players are that are “performing” this season, with another questioning if the board have “lost their minds”.

Enzo Maresca to target different positions in January

While it has become clear that the Blues are pleased with the money invested in the wide areas, there are still improvements to be made if they are to be true title contenders.

Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Chelsea could accelerate a deal for Kobbie Mainoo, with Romeo Lavia struggling with fitness, and Reece James a better option at full-back.

With Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto joint on five league goals, a new striker could also be on the manager’s wishlist, especially after Liam Delap suffered a new injury blow.

Although the Blues are fourth in the Premier League table, very few rival fans believe that they are in the race for the Premier League title, and Maresca will be keen to change that.
