Chelsea fans ‘amazed’ as coach hands in his notice

Chelsea supporters have admitted to being happy about Henrique Hilario leaving the club to join Thomas Tuchel’s England coaching team.

According to The Telegraph, the Chelsea goalkeeper coach has handed in his notice after it was determined that he couldn’t do a job share between the club and England.

Hilario has spent over 18 years working for the Blues after joining the club as a player in 2006 and then going on to become part of the coaching team.

The former Chelsea backup goalkeeper worked under Tuchel during his stint at Stamford Bridge and has coached the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Robert Sanchez, and Edouard Mendy.

Hilario will join forces with several familiar faces as former Chelsea coach Anthony Barry is set to be Tuchel’s assistant, while Chelsea’s former head of performance analysis James Melbourne is also following Tuchel to St. George’s Park.

The announcement has been met with positivity from many Blues fans as they felt that the standard of goalkeeping hasn’t been good enough at the club for some time.
