Chelsea fans deliver ‘harsh truth’ about player after ‘horrendous’ display vs Brentford

Chelsea supporters have hammered Jamie Gittens’ poor performance in their 2-2 draw with Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca had a busy summer transfer window, while Chelsea signed Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues utilised the transfer market to reshuffle their attack, with fellow winger Alejandro Garnacho moving to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Chelsea also signed strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap from Brighton and Ipswich Town respectively, whereas Nicolas Jackson joined Bayern Munich.

The West Londoners’ transfer activity also saw Noni Madueke join Arsenal, paving the way for Gittens to enjoy game time in the Premier League.

Maresca had steered the Stamford Bridge club to a rich vein of form, as Chelsea defeated Fulham 2-0 in their last game before the international break.

However, on their return to Premier League action, the Blues had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Brentford on 13 September.

Meanwhile, Maresca’s men face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, 17 September, in a match which could see Jackson play against his parent club Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge outfit’s draw with their West London rivals sees them sitting just one point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

However, those standings will change if defending top-flight champions Liverpool beat Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, 14 September.

Chelsea’s next opportunity to put pressure on their likely title rivals arrives on Saturday, 20 September, when they face Man United at Old Trafford.

Chelsea supporters slam Jamie Gittens for Brentford exploits

Delap’s recent injury saw Marc Guiu return to Chelsea from his loan spell with Sunderland, in another squad reshuffle at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, summer signing Gittens failed to impress after being named in Maresca’s lineup against Brentford.

As per FotMob, the 21-year-old had just one shot against the Bees, while he only created one chance at the Gtech Community Stadium.

After watching the winger’s poor display, one Chelsea fan wrote on X: “Madueke is miles better than Gittens and that is the harsh truth.”

Another supporter added: “Gittens I can’t believe what my eyes are seeing. What! This is horrendous.”
