Cesc Fabregas made an impressive return to the Chelsea team in their 3-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday – and fans reacted with delight on Twitter.

The Spaniard was restored to the starting XI for the first time since the Blues’ defeat to Arsenal on 24 September, in place of the injured Nemanja Matic.

Chelsea secured their eighth consecutive league win on Saturday to maintain their position at the top of the league, where they now sit four points clear of second-placed Liverpool, who travel to Bournemouth on Sunday.

Fabregas was integral to the win, with his most memorable contribution a stunning pass to Diego Costa for the Chelsea equaliser at the hour mark.

Further goals from Willian and Eden Hazard clinched a stunning victory for Antonio Conte’s side that further demonstrated their title credentials.

Chelsea supporters were delighted to see Fabregas back to his best following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Fabregas was making only his second league start of the season after losing his place to summer signing N’Golo Kante.

In total, the former Arsenal midfielder has played only seven matches for Chelsea in this campaign, four of which he has started.

In other Chelsea news, Jamie Redknapp has claimed that this Blues player made the “pass of the season” in the win over City.
