Chelsea fans tear into Ben Chilwell as latest footage of Liverpool bust-up with Joe Gomez emerges
Fans on social media did not hold back against Ben Chilwell after new footage of the Chelsea star’s conduct in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool emerged.
The Blues captain was on the losing side at Wembley with Jurgen Klopp’s young Liverpool squad coming out on top in extra time to win a record 10th League Cup.
Chilwell captained Chelsea in Reece James’ absence and was involved in a heated moment with Reds defender Connor Bradley on the verge of half-time.
With seconds remaining until the break, Chilwell reacted to Bradley’s challenge which saw both players go to ground.
New fans footage of the bust-up has emerged online showing Liverpool’s Joe Gomez confronting Chilwell after his outburst against Bradley.
Both Chilwell and Bradley were booked for the incident and both ended up being substituted later in the match for Trevoh Chalobah and Bobby Clark respectively.
Fans on social media were outraged by Chilwell’s reaction, with supporters from both clubs criticising his actions.
Chilwell is expected to lead Chelsea out once again on Wednesday evening (28 February) as they take on Leeds United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Liverpool also return to action on Wednesday with a cup clash against Championship side Southampton.
