Chelsea first-XI trio to leave soon – O’Rourke

Chelsea are expected to sell a trio of first-team players before the transfer window closes, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Blues are looking to cut their squad size before the 31st August cut-off.

Trevor Chalobah, Armando Broja, and David Fofana are all available to buy in this window, but they will not be cheap.

Even though other clubs are aware that Chelsea needs to reduce their squad size, the Premier League giants will still try to get the best prices for their players.

Chelsea wants to offload this trio amongst others, but sources say these deals could drag on and happen as late as deadline day.

Teams must “put up or shut up” at that stage in the window in order to get players off the books, which is what’s expected at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are looking to sell fringe players this summer to trim the squad

It has been a busy transfer window for the Blues, which has put the club in a position where they must now start selling players.

Despite Chelsea being in the market for a striker this summer, both Broja and Fofana are expected to be sold.

The two strikers spent last season away from Stamford Bridge on loan and won’t be featured in plans under Maresca either.

Chalobah was surprisingly left out of the pre-season tour of America after being deemed surplus to requirements.

Football Insider revealed that Man United are monitoring the central defender and could make a big to bolster their options.
