Chelsea got Moises Caicedo for ‘bargain’ fee and this is his jaw-dropping valuation now
Moises Caicedo has been Chelsea’ standout player this season after a dazzling start to 2025-26 under Enzo Maresca.
Despite former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively telling Football Insider that Chelsea are targeting Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, they will also be focused on retaining key assets in the January transfer window.
Major attention has been on the Ecuador international who has kicked off his season in emphatic style and is highly motivated for the 2026 World Cup ahead.
Caicedo was signed as part of Chelsea’s obsession with Brighton players which continued this summer after the signing of Joao Pedro.

Chelsea unwilling to part with Moises Caicedo for less than £115m
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Blues are adamant that their prized South American will not be departing from Stamford Bridge anytime soon.
Sources told Football Insider that Real Madrid are interested in signing Caicedo with French outfit PSG also in the market for a new midfielder.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I don’t see how there’s any possibility that Chelsea could let Moises Casado go.
“For me, they’ll be looking to build their team around Caicedo, still such a young player himself, at only 23 years old, but it seems like he’s been around for ages.

“But you’ve seen already this season how key he is to Chelsea. He’s, for me, established himself as one of the elite midfielders in world football right now for this performances for Chelsea and also for Ecuador, who he’s helped qualify for the World Cup as well.
“Chelsea did spend big money when they signed him for Brighton was at £115million a couple of years ago.
“But that probably looks like a bit of a bargain right now. You look at it, Caicedo has got all the tools to be a top midfielder for a number of years in that Chelsea side as well.

“He’s on the contract until 2031. So Chelsea are securing that and they won’t want to sell him as well. If they were to sell him, they’d be looking to make a huge profit on him as well.
“So, they’d be looking to command a fee in excess of that £115m to even consider selling Caicedo and I don’t think any club could get to those values right now as well.
“So look, although a few question marks were probably raised at the initial time, it shows that it’s good business right now and they will want to keep Moises Caicedo there for the long-term.”
Mike Maignan being hunted by Bayern Munich as Chelsea set to miss out
Sources told Football Insider that Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan.

The German outfit could sign the Frenchman if they decide to let Manuel Neuer leave on a free next summer, opening up a chasm between the sticks.
Chelsea had been pursuing Maignan during the summer to finally sort out their deplorable goalkeeper position yet this new development will concern Maresca.
It remains to be seen whether Bayern Munich’s first-choice shot stopper opts to stay at the Allianz Arena or if they splash the cash to bring in the highly touted France international.
