Chelsea have 'big' advantage over Juventus in race to seal sign Presnel Kimpembe - pundit

Alan Hutton has tipped Presnel Kimpembe to choose Chelsea over Juventus because of his relationship with Thomas Tuchel.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa defender suggested Chelsea’s locality in London will also be a “big” draw for the 26-year-old.

According to The Times (23 July), the Blues face competition from Juventus for the centre-back.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen to keep the defender but would be willing to accept offers of around £60million.

The France international has two years remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes.

Kimpembe previously worked with Tuchel during his time as PSG manager.

When asked if the defender would choose Chelsea over Juventus, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he’s worked under the manager, so they know each other really well.

It’s very easy for a player coming from another country when you’ve got someone like that there to help you settle in. It makes the transition a lot easier and probably the draw of London as well is a big thing for players to be in the capital.

He’ll know players within the squad as well.

You never know, Juventus are a massive team in their own right. It’d also be a great move. I think it would come down to, personally, where is he going to play and where is he going to play the most.

If Tuchel gives him that assurance then I think that will be his destination.”
