‘Chelsea in talks with multiple top global brands over £60m-per-year sponsor deal’

Chelsea are set to benefit massively after Enzo Maresca’s side defied the odds to lift the Club World Cup trophy over in America.

The Blues suffered an unexpected defeat to Flamengo in the group stage, with Nicolas Jackson sent off during the game, but were still able to reach the knockout rounds.

After convincing wins over Benfica, Palmeiras, and Fluminense, Maresca’s side found themselves in the final against Luis Enrique‘s PSG, who beat Real Madrid in the semi-finals to book their spot.

For the entirety of the tournament and the 2024/25 campaign, the Blues have been without a front-of-shirt sponsor, having last had Infinite Athlete for the 2023/24 season.

With a brace from Cole Palmer and a third from Joao Pedro in the final of the Club World Cup, the West London side are about to reap the rewards of remaining patient behind the scenes.

Chelsea to benefit from Club World Cup success

According to The Telegraph (15 July), the Blues’ Club World Cup final victory over PSG could help the club to agree a front-of-shirt sponsorship worth over £100million more than what was on offer last year.

It is understood that the club were in talks with two separate companies last year, but that the long-term deals on the table were worth about £40million-per-year. Chelsea decided to hold off.

Todd Boehly‘s side can now cash in rather handsomely, with Champions League football and the Club World Cup title secured, which has seen that figure rise to £60m-per-year, and seven to 10 big global companies interested.

It remains unclear whether a deal can be struck for the front-of-shirt sponsorship to be in place for the start of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, but there is hope of the logo being emblazoned on the shirts at some point next season.

Chelsea continue to build under Enzo Maresca

Football Insider verdict

While Maresca was under pressure at Chelsea for much of the 2024/25 campaign, he has impressed immensely over the last few months and is now a trusted figure at Stamford Bridge.

With Champions League football secured via a top-five Premier League finish, the Blues will be back amongst Europe’s elite next season, which is huge for the club.

Kieran Maguire has been extremely complimentary of Chelsea’s transfers, with Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro all added to the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

With so much improvement in very little time, supporters will be eager for even more success under the former Leicester City boss next season, but it is likely to be a slow progression on the pitch.

It remains a very young squad, with plenty of players still to get rid of this summer, but there are some extremely positive signs emerging from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

Being able to find a big-money front-of-shirt sponsorship will only be good news for the club, Boehly, and even Maresca, with more room for investment off and on the pitch.
