‘Chelsea Insider’ reveals Enzo Maresca intentions as unexpected news confirmed

Enzo Maresca’s comments sent shockwaves across the Premier League after his Chelsea team beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday.

The Blues put their four-match winless run in all competitions to an end at Stamford Bridge, as they cruised past David Moyes’ Toffees with a first-half double.

Cole Palmer netted his first Chelsea goal since 17 September after a lengthy injury lay-off, before Malo Gusto added a second on the stroke of half-time to secure the points.

The West Londoners climbed back into the top four with their latest victory in the Premier League, but it was Maresca’s comments after the game that made the biggest headlines.

Chelsea Insider plays down Enzo Maresca suggestion

Maresca looks set to be well-backed at Chelsea once again in the January transfer window, but his comments about the recent feeling at the club raised eyebrows after the Everton victory.

The Italian revealed in his post-match press conference that the 48 hours prior to the game had been the worst he had endured since taking the reins at Chelsea.

The Blues boss didn’t elaborate on the exact meaning behind that striking revelation, but he also added that he felt people “didn’t support” his team after their draw with Arsenal on 30 November.

Maresca’s comments have now been cleared up by a “Chelsea Insider” who was quick to suggest on Saturday evening that it was merely an “emotional reaction to an emotional win,” according to the Daily Mail, rather than anything of a more concerning nature.

Blues set for potential points deduction as FA verdict awaited

Chelsea were charged by the FA with 74 alleged breaches of financial rules back in September, and the verdict from the governing body’s investigation is due to arrive imminently.

The Blues’ alleged breaches relate to payments made to agents between 2009 and 2022, and Stefan Borson has suggested that it could result in them facing a points deduction.

The former Manchester City financial advisor exclusively told Football Insider earlier this week that while Chelsea are expecting only financial punishments, a deduction could also be possible if the FA decide that they gained a sporting advantage as a result.

While the prospect of a deduction seems unlikely at this moment in time, it would be another unwelcome moment in a campaign that seems to be presenting consistent problems for Maresca.
