Chelsea legend Cech posts ‘nice to be back’ on Munich Champions League final return
PSG made history by beating Inter in the Champions League final, in a game that also brought back some fond memories for one former Chelsea player in the form of Petr Cech.
Having fallen short in their efforts to win the biggest trophy in European football on numerous, often calamitous occasions in the past, the French champions made no mistake this time around.
PSG produced a dominant 5-0 win over Inter to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history on Saturday night (31 May).
The location though, will have also ensured this final may have been an enjoyable one to watch for those with a connection to Chelsea.

Chelsea fans get welcome Champions League throwback
That match which saw PSG complete the treble this season, was held in the Allianz Arena in Munich, the first time the stadium has hosted the final since 2012.
Back when the ground had last hosted that final some 13 years ago, it had been Chelsea who had been able to bask in the glory of being named European champions.
After playing out a 1-1 draw with the team who otherwise call the Allianz Arena home in the form of Bayern Munich, the Blues had then claimed a 4-3 victory on penalties.
That had ensured Chelsea claimed the Champions League title for the first time in the history, with Cech having been at the heart of that as their number one at the time, saving twice in the shoot-out and once in extra-time from Arjen Robben.
With the former goalkeeper returning to the Allianz Arena for this latest edition of the final, he was keen to share a throwback to that past success.
Taking to his Instagram story, Cech posted a picture of himself inside the stadium, along with the caption: “It is nice to be back here”.
That was then accompanied by winking, football, goalkeeper gloves and a trophy emoji from the Chelsea icon.

Petr Cech right to enjoy his historic success
Football Insider Verdict
It is no surprise to see Cech enjoy his history in this stadium, given the scale of that achievement, and how much he put into his 11-year spell at Chelsea, of which this was arguably a high point.
Many fans of the club will also no doubt appreciate a reminder of this, given how much both that trophy, and Cech himself will likely mean to them.
Chelsea enjoyed their own European success this season in the Conference League, while also qualifying for the Champions League with a fourth place finish in the Premier League.
But given the quality this PSG side showed in this final, and with a squad that has so much time to improve, it is going to be hard for Enzo Maresca‘s side to repeat that success of Cech and co. next season.
