Chelsea ‘make Gianlugi Donnarumma transfer decision’ amid Man City links
Chelsea have decided against a move for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma amid interest in the Italy international from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Football finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Donnarumma wants £400,000 a week to join Man City.
The former AC Milan man did not feature for PSG in their UEFA Super Cup victory over Tottenham, or their win over Nantes in Ligue 1’s opening weekend, amid the presence of new signing Lucas Chevalier.
However, Donnarumma’s potential move to Man City has been cast into doubt as Galatasaray eye alternatives to Ederson.

Chelsea opt against making Donnarumma move
Chelsea began the new Premier League season with a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, 17 August.
Meanwhile, according to The Athletic on Tuesday, 19 August, goalkeeper is not a position that Enzo Maresca is wanting to strengthen this summer, so the West Londoners are not a suitor for Donnarumma.
Contrastingly, Chelsea are nearing a move for RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons.

Football Insider verdict
While Chelsea have opted against acquiring a new goalkeeper in the latter stages of the transfer window, question marks remain over Robert Sanchez.
Sanchez helped the Blues win the Conference League and the Club World Cup last season, but he may not be the right man to help them beat clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man City to Premier League glory this term.
Robert Sanchez stats | Premier League 2025/26 |
Appearances | 1 |
Saves | 4 |
Clean sheets | 1 |
The Spain international deserves credit for maintaining 10 clean sheets in the top flight last season, but he has faced criticism for goalkeeping errors.
Furthermore, the former Brighton man did not cover himself in glory when he was beaten by Eberechi Eze’s free kick on Sunday and was arguably lucky to see Crystal Palace’s goal chalked off following a VAR check.
Meanwhile, Donnarumma proved his class by winning the treble for PSG last term, and performing exceptionally well in the Champions League against sides like Liverpool and Aston Villa.
