‘Chelsea could sign Mike Maignan for nothing as fresh transfer update emerges’
Chelsea could have the opportunity to sign AC Milan and France goalkeeper Mike Maignan on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old maintained a clean sheet as France beat Germany 2-0 on Sunday, 8 June in the UEFA Nations League third-place playoff.
Chelsea have eyed a move for Maignan, as Enzo Maresca looks to further bolster his goalkeeping department.
The Stamford Bridge club currently enjoy the services of Robert Sanchez, who kept 10 clean sheets in 32 Premier League appearances in 2024/25.

Chelsea could make a pre-contract agreement with Maignan
As reported by Sky Sports [10 June], Maresca’s men have opted out of a deal to sign the Milan goalkeeper.
However, the Stamford Bridge club could still set their sights on a future bargain swoop for Maignan if they remain keen on the 29-year-old.
The BBC Sport live transfer blog [10 June, 1.02 pm] reported: “Maignan’s contract at Milan expires in 2026, so Chelsea could decide to open pre-contract negotiations with him in January.”

West Ham will sell Mohammed Kudus amid interest from Chelsea
The West Londoners may have to wait another year before joining up with Milan shotstopper Maignan.

Appearances | 37 |
Saves | 99 |
Clean sheets | 12 |
However, Maresca is still set to oversee a busy summer with both the Club World Cup and transfer negotiations to navigate, after the first window shuts on Tuesday, 10 June.
The Stamford Bridge side are preparing themselves for their Club World Cup group stage clash with MLS outfit LAFC on Monday, 16 June, while the Premier League sides have set their sights on a move for Mohammed Kudus.
Football Insider have exclusively revealed that West Ham will reluctantly sell Kudus amid interest from both Chelsea and Newcastle United.
Despite playing for a Hammers outfit who finished just 14th in the Premier League, the Ghana international notched five goals and three assists in 32 top-flight outings in 2024/25.
If Kudus joins Chelsea, where he would be surrounded by higher-quality teammates, he could prove to be more clinical.
