Football Insider rates the Chelsea players after their 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Courtois 7 – Had very little to do throughout the match
Azpilicueta 8 – The Blues most reliable defender put in another exemplary performance. He looked like the only one comfortable dealing with Lukaku.
Luiz 5 – Struggled with a groin injury until his eventual substitution. The defensive mainstay not deal with Lukaku well and relied heavily on his captain to help him out.
Cahill 7 – Reacted smartly to block Lukaku’s effort after Calvert-Lewin hit the post early on, and reacted smartly to poke home in the second half. Overall a solid performance.
Moses 7 – Looked solid in defence and nullified Barkley’s threat for much of the game. He did well in attack too and
Alonso 6 – Had a relatively quiet game, made no mistakes, but did not make much of an impact either.
Matic 5 – The midfield mainstay looked average in the middle and was outplayed by 18-year-old Tom Davies throughout the game. Chelsea may look to improve their centre midfield options this summer.
Kante 6 – Did Chelsea’s dirty work, and battled well in the centre of the park. Helped by the fact Gueye was pre-occupied with Hazard.
Hazard 7 – Dragged Gueye all over the pitch despite the latters’ attempts to man-mark him. Unfortunate not to score after rounding the ‘keeper in the first period. Played in a clever free kick for Cahill’s goal.
Pedro 8 – Scored a genuine screamer. The Spaniard more than justified his selection, looked ready to take on Everton defenders every time he had the ball.
Costa 5 – Looked lively and high on confidence, spurned one difficult chance in the first half. Quietened down a lot in the second period but played a nice ball through to Fabregas for their third goal in the closing moments.
Fabregas 7 (On for Pedro 82′) – Set up Willian’s goal, did more than Matic in eight minute than the Serbian did in 90.
Ake 6 (On for Luiz) – Was not tested in defence after coming on.
Willian 7 (On for Hazard) – Scored with virtually his first touch, could have had a second too as Everton tired.
