Chelsea ‘ready Caoimhin Kelleher move’ after Liverpool star’s vow
Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Caoimhin Kelleher’s situation at Liverpool as they plot a move to sign the goalkeeper this summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Blues are keen to strengthen in goal and are prepared to spend big.
Kelleher, 26, is widely expected to leave Anfield in the summer after falling down the pecking order following the arrival of Georgia international Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Football Insider revealed in November that the Ireland international wants to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team football and believes he can make the step up.
He has featured 17 times so far this season while Alisson has spent time out with injuries, but there is a feeling he will never become Arne Slot’s number one.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have become concerned by the performances of Robert Sanchez and are preparing to enter the transfer market in search of a replacement.
Chelsea join multi-club race to sign Caoimhin Kelleher
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that he would be a good option for Chelsea to solve their goalkeeping woes.
“They’re looking at Kelleher from Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he’s a very good goalkeeper and would be a good option for Chelsea.

“Whenever he’s called upon, he can put in a run of really impressive performances, and never looks like it’s just a flash in the pan, that’s just his level.
“If he’s out of favour at Liverpool, as it looks like he will be with the new man coming in, I can see him wanting to move on.
“And I know Chelsea have had a few issues with Sanchez, they’re not quite sure about him.
“We know they’re not afraid to spend big as well, and I expect that to continue in the summer.
“So they’ll be keeping an eye on Kelleher’s situation and if it looks like he’s going to leave, they’ll be one of a number of teams looking to bring him in.
“I think he could do an excellent job there.”

Enzo Maresca to continue spending big at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have spent vast sums of money in an effort to back Enzo Maresca since his arrival in the summer, but there is a feeling at Stamford Bridge that their spending is not done.
A number of potential transfer targets have been mooted in recent weeks and, as well as Kelleher, they are plotting to strengthen key areas of their team.
Football Insider revealed on 10 February that Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has emerged as a target after they had a bid rejected during the January window.
The 22-year-old has since signed a new contract at the City Ground, but that is not thought to have deterred the Blues’ interest despite recognition a deal could be “tough”.
