Chelsea ready to sacrifice four home-grown stars after Liverpool update – sources
Chelsea are ready to sacrifice four home-grown stars this summer in a bid to avoid selling defender Levi Colwill, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 April) that the Blues are expecting summer bids for the 21-year-old – who is a long-term target for Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, they want to block any offers and instead boost their coffers with other sales.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side need to sell players to boost their financial accounts for the 2023-24 campaign and avoid punishment under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The best way of doing so is parting with home-grown stars, who can be sold for pure profit in the club’s accounts.
It is believed Chelsea are ready to part with academy graduates Ian Maatsen, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher in the off-season to improve their financial outlook.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 April) that Chelsea will be looking to bring in £30million for Maatsen – who is thriving on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Both Tottenham and Newcastle are keen on a potential move for Gallagher – who has captained Pochettino’s side in the 2023-24 campaign.
Broja is currently out on loan at Fulham but is struggling for regular minutes following the recent emergence of Rodrigo Muniz.
Chalobah has been given a chance to impress by Pochettino in his defence following a serious injury earlier this season, but will also be surplus to requirements this summer.
Chelsea are desperate to keep Colwill, who signed a new contract running until June 2029 last year (2023), amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and PSG.
He has made 27 starts in 32 total appearances this term but is currently out with a toe injury.
