Chelsea star Reece James responds to ex-teammate’s major transfer announcement
Chelsea defender Reece James has responded to Luton Town’s first signing of the summer.
Hatters boss Matt Bloomfield is keen to bolster his ranks after the Kenilworth Road side endured consecutive relegations from the Premier League to League One.
Bloomfield joined Luton from Wycombe in January, but could not keep the Bedfordshire side in the second tier.
However, the 41-year-old’s latest activity in the transfer market has caught the eye of Reece James, who helped Chelsea seal Champions League qualification last term.

Chelsea star James responds as Luton announce summer signing
James will hope to help the Stamford Bridge side claim Club World Cup glory this summer while Enzo Maresca’s men take on LAFC on Monday, 16 June.
Meanwhile, Luton announced the addition of Kal Naismith to their ranks via Instagram [10 June], as the League One club posted: “Welcome back Kal.”
James commented with a red heart emoji, having formerly played alongside Naismith during his loan spell with Wigan Athletic in 2018/19.
Chelsea will accept offers for defensive duo this summer
While James has responded to Luton’s latest transfer activity, Chelsea are also set for a busy summer in the recruitment department as Enzo Maresca looks to strengthen his squad ahead of competing in next season’s Champions League.

The Stamford Bridge club’s most notable business so far this summer is the acquisition of striker Liam Delap, who proved his goal-scoring credentials in the Premier League with former club Ipswich Town.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are interested in signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, after the former Manchester City youth academy player scored 12 goals across all competitions in 2024/25.
But as the West London club plot ambitious swoops for the likes of Gittens, Maresca will have to part company with some of his current assets this summer.
Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Chelsea will accept offers for Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi this summer, after the latter joined Aston Villa on loan in the winter transfer window.
