Chelsea respond to Rangers’ Leo Castledine proposal – sources
Rangers have made a loan-to-buy proposal for Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Glasgow club are looking to bring the 18-year-old to the Ibrox.
Chelsea rejected Rangers’ loan-to-buy approach out of hand as they’re not interested in letting the youngster leave the club permanently.
Castledine is highly regarded at Chelsea and sources say they would be willing to let the attacking midfielder leave on loan.
It’s now up to Rangers to decide whether they will change tact and go for a straight loan but they will face competition from other clubs in Scotland and England.
Rangers interested in Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine
The youngster is regarded as one of the best young talents to come out of Cobham in some time and made his senior debut under ex-manager Mauricio Pochetinho last season.
Castledine is a diminutive number ten but is capable of playing up-front or on either wing when called upon.

Rangers have lost a lot of experience this transfer window with players like Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack, and John Lundstrum all leaving the club on a free.
There may even be more departures at the Ibrox as their busy transfer window continues.
Football Insider revealed (July 29) that Rangers have opened talks to sign a replacement for midfielder Todd Cantwell.
