‘Chelsea set to intensify Garnacho approach as Villa deal devastating Morgan Rogers blow’
Chelsea look set to intensify their bid for Alejandro Garnacho following the latest update regarding Morgan Rogers.
The Blues have once again been busy this summer, bringing in the likes of Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
However, there are still plenty of funds available following the sales of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Djordje Petrovic, among others.
This lavish spending comes off the back of Enzo Maresca delivering Uefa Conference League and Fifa Club World Cup crowns — but it will increase the pressure on the Blues to compete for the Premier League title next season.

Chelsea face Morgan Rogers disappointment
Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers was understood to be a major target of Chelsea’s, and Football Insider revealed on Monday (28 July) that the Blues were prepared to offer Nicolas Jackson, Tosin Adarabioyo and cash for the England international.
However, those hopes now appear to be dashed, with The Athletic reporting (29 July) that Villa have offered Rogers a new deal to ‘reflect his status as a key player’, despite still having five years left to run on his current contract.
Rogers enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign, registering 14 goals and 15 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions — including four goals and three assists in the Champions League.
That form has helped the 23-year-old break into the senior England set-up, with six caps to his name so far.

Chelsea line-up Garnacho as Rogers alternative
While Rogers would have been an exciting addition to the growing collection at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea do have other options.
Alejandro Garnacho is another forward on Chelsea’s radar, with the Argentine unhappy with his situation at Old Trafford.
Garnacho notched 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions last season, but with Man United slumping to 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham, there will be no European football for the Red Devils in 2025/26.
Chelsea are also pushing for Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, but it’s thought that sealing that deal would have no bearing on their Garnacho pursuit.
And the Argentina international looks set to become Chelsea’s primary wide option, with The Athletic reporting that he would be the ‘easier and cheaper’ to acquire over Rogers.
