Chelsea make Jamie Gittens transfer decision after woeful start
Chelsea continue to review their latest batch of summer signings with some faring better than others at the start of the 2025-26 season.
Chelsea had a blockbuster summer transfer window which saw a whole host of new faces arriving and deadweight leaving Stamford Bridge.
Many of the new additions were on show in the Blues victory on 4 October with former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee, Keith Hackett exclusively telling Football Insider that Alejandro Garnacho’s antics against Liverpool highlights the need for an FA review panel.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Man United in the final days of the summer transfer window with his performances already better than fellow arrival Jamie Gittens.

Gittens’ full Chelsea stats revealed
Football finance expert Dan Plumley exclusively told Football Insider that Gittens’ long-term Chelsea contract was no surprise given the manner of the club’s recruitment drive for talented youth.
The Englishman joined from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, yet has failed to make a positive impact under Enzo Maresca.
The 21-year-old has no goal involvements in seven appearances for the west London outfit, which has prompted doubts over his readiness to play in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill exclusively told Football Insider on where the club stand on the number 11 ahead of the January transfer window given his appalling start to life in the English top-flight.
He said: “I don’t think there’s any chance that Gittens gets loaned away in January.
“He’s only just joined, he’s 21, he’s new to the Premier League, and Chelsea want him and Garnacho competing on the left wing.”
Chelsea to re-think January centre-back plan with injuries piling up
Gill also told Football Insider on 30 September that Chelsea were not looking to bring in a new centre-back in January.

However, the 2-1 victory over Liverpool saw both Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong come off with injuries, forcing Jorrel Hato and Reece James to play at centre-back for much of the second half.
Reportedly, the pair were taken off as a precaution yet this exposes a potential problem for the Blues if the central defenders continue to pick up injuries that could become more serious.
Maresca will be pleading with the board to target a new signing in the January transfer window before the heart of his defence is completely depleted.
