Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has completely embarrassed former Tottenham player

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has become a divisive figure since completing his £106million switch to Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Players are often judged by their huge price tags, and Enzo is someone who has fallen victim to that narrative since becoming one of the most expensive Premier League players ever.

The Argentine is the fulcrum of Enzo Maresca’s system, the one capable of producing a moment of class from midfield alongside superstar Cole Palmer.

Enzo has three goals and one assist from seven top-flight appearances in 2025/26, putting him well on the way to beating his return of 13 goal involvements last term and silencing the doubters even more.

Jamie O’Hara once said Enzo Fernandez isn’t ‘good enough’

While Enzo was criticised for his performance against Lincoln City, that was one of his very few below-par performances in a Chelsea shirt.

Troy Deeney has been wowed by Enzo, predicting him to reach double figures for goals in 2025/26 and leave Jamie O’Hara red-faced.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in September 2024, O’Hara blasted the 24-year-old for his performance and controversially said he wasn’t ‘good enough’.

I am not having Enzo Fernandez. I am not having him. I don’t think he is good enough,” said the ex-Spurs midfielder. “They paid a lot of money for him, £100 million, they have made him the captain of the football club. I don’t think he deserves to play in midfield. Lavia is a better player.”

O’Hara writing him off was one thing, but he also stated that Romeo Lavia was better, despite his Chelsea career being curtailed by injuries.

What fee Chelsea are demanding for Enzo

Football Insider revealed that Chelsea would only accept a bid over £100m for Enzo, after Real Madrid showed an interest in his signature.

The Argentine international is the glue that holds the Blues midfield together alongside Moises Caicedo, who has become one of the Premier League’s best under Maresca.
