Chelsea star Reece James swipes at ‘disrespectful’ fans in new message
Chelsea captain Reece James has taken to social media to address the fans after his most recent injury setback.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s (November 23) Premier League clash with Leicester, Enzo Maresca revealed that the 24-year-old will be sidelined due to a new hamstring injury.
Maresca said, “Unfortunately Reece felt something small and we don’t want to take a risk for this game”.
The right-back was ruled out of Chelsea’s first 11 games of the campaign after picking up a similar injury while on their pre-season tour of the USA.
Reece James working hard to get back to Chelsea action
James missed the majority of last season—29 games in total—due to surgery, but his persistent hamstring issues show no signs of resolving anytime soon.
Clearly devastated by his most recent setback, James took to Instagram to send a message to fans and let them know how he’s doing.
He explained that the “message is to the people that understand and respect what I’m going through” in a clear swipe at online trolls and those fans who have given up on the injury-plagued skipper.

Thankfully for Maresca’s side, Malo Gusto has proven himself to be a fine understudy and will likely feature in the Italian’s return to the King Power Stadium.
Maresca has Chelsea firing on all cylinders since joining from Leicester in the summer, with the West Londoners once again in contention for Champions League qualification.
