Sources: Leyton Orient in advanced talks to sign Chelsea sensation Jayden Wareham

Leyton Orient are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea striker Jayden Wareham, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League giants have given the green light to the goalscoring sensation, 19, joining the League Two club on loan.

Talks will continue to complete the deadline-day deal but all parties are confident it will be finalised before the 11pm cut-off.

Chelsea signed Wareham from Woking following a trial at the tail end of the 2020-21 campaign.

The youngster, whose deal expires at the end of the season, came through the Queens Park Rangers youth academy before his move to the National League side.

Wareham bagged five goals and an assist in 20 outings for Chelsea’s development side in the Premier League 2 last term.

He has now netted twice in four appearances in the competition this season.

Chelsea, who have one of the most active loan departments in world football, have let the likes of Malang Sarr, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Gabriel Slonina leave the club on temporary deals this summer.

Leyton Orient meanwhile have already strengthened their forward line with the addition of 18-year-old forward Charlie Kelman, who has joined on loan from QPR.

They have made six signings in total.

Richie Wellens’ side lost 5-0 to Oxford United on Tuesday (30 August).

But they are still top of the table in League Two with 16 points from their opening six matches.

Chelsea meanwhile are down to 9th in the Premier League after Tuesday’s (30 August) surprise defeat to Chelsea.
