Chelsea star Wesley Fofana likes post mocking Arsenal after PSG defeat

Arsenal have been mocked by rival fans since their Champions League exit and Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has joined in with the taunting.

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 in their semi-final second leg against PSG at Parc des Princes on Wednesday, falling to a 3-1 aggregate loss.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring for the Parisians before Achraf Hakimi doubled their lead midway through the second half.

Bukayo Saka scored a consolation to give Mikel Arteta’s side hope going into the last 15 minutes but the comeback didn’t materialise.

Chelsea are still in the hunt for a European trophy this season as they take a 4-1 lead into the second leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final.

Fofana reacts to Arsenal defeat

Fofana has been plagued with injuries since joining Chelsea and hasn’t featured since the Blues were beaten by Arsenal in March.

The defender was substituted after 86 minutes at the Emirates and it is likely that he will miss the rest of the season with a muscle problem.

However, the centre-back’s disappointing personal campaign hasn’t stopped him from revelling in the Gunners’ woes.

In a post on Instagram (7 May), the fact Arsenal have never won a Champions League in their history was highlighted alongside their London rivals Chelsea’s two in the past 13 years.

Fofana was clearly a fan of the comparison and showed his appreciation by liking the post.

Chelsea have two more UCL titles than Arsenal

Chelsea still boast European supremacy

Football Insider Verdict

After Arsenal’s defeat to PSG, Chelsea remain the only club in London to have won the Champions League, doing so on two occasions.

The Blues beat Bayern Munich in 2012 final and achieved their second success in 2021 by beating Manchester City 1-0.

Domestically, the Gunners are in a much better place than Enzo Maresca’s side, but with Arsenal consistently failing in Europe, Chelsea boast the historical advantage.

Chelsea are four points behind Arsenal

There is still a slight chance that Chelsea will finish above Arsenal in the Premier League this season, with the Gunners just four points ahead of their London rivals.

Arteta’s side must ensure that they get over their European exit quickly, so that they don’t start slipping down the league.

However, they are almost certain to secure Champions League football next season due to the fact that the top five in the Premier League will take part in the competition.
