Chelsea to complete A-list striker signing after deal agreed – sources

Conor Gallagher’s sale to Atletico Madrid will fund the signing of a new A-list striker at Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.

It has been widely reported that the Blues are set to bank around £34million by selling the midfielder, who was a fixture in the first-team and captained the side last season.

However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 August) that Chelsea are highly unlikely to dip into the transfer market to replace Gallagher.

Romeo Lavia and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are already at Stamford Bridge and are expected to step into the England international’s shoes.

Sources say the priority for Chelsea is signing at least one new striker before the end of the transfer window on 30 August.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (4 August) that the Londoners are continuing to negotiate a deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen but a full agreement is still some way off.

Atleti forward Samu Omorodion, 20, has also been a target throughout the summer window.

One target who won’t be making the move to Stamford Bridge is Jhon Duran, with Football Insider revealing on Monday (5 August) that Chelsea and West Ham have both pulled out of the race for the 20-year-old.
