Chelsea to ‘get deal signed’ at £45m

Chelsea could be set to agree a £45million deal after an optimistic Todd Boehly strategy failed.

The Blues have had an inconsistent start to the season under Enzo Maresca, and sit eight points behind league leaders Arsenal after 10 games.

Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland at Stamford Bridge last weekend, with the result calling Maresca’s future into question.

However, the West London side bounced back with a 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday (1 November), in a dominating performance.

Chelsea ready to agree front-of-shirt deal

On Monday (26 October), Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are now ready to agree a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Blues will now accept offers of around £45m, despite originally hoping for more.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Todd Boehly’s strategy of holding out for more money is becoming too costly for the club.

Wyness added that he expects a deal to be completed very soon.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think they’re going to have to get something signed at £45million.

“I think Todd Boehly has finally accepted that the strategy of holding out for the right price is getting too costly for them. I think £45m is a lot of money that they’ve got to keep coming in. I do think there’ll be something signed.

“Chelsea have got to also deliver on the pitch for that new sponsor, but still it’s a glamour shirt sponsorship and should be one of the top ones in the Premier League.

“Chelsea have a good international fan base, so they are worthy of a decent investment from a company, depending on what they want to do. But yes, I expect it to be signed very soon. Why it wasn’t done earlier in the season, I don’t know, but here we are. I think it will get done.”

Rodrigo Bentancur should have been sent off vs Chelsea

Tottenham should have been reduced to ten men in the first half of their London derby defeat to Chelsea.

That is according to former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, who exclusively told Football Insider that Jarred Gillett failed to properly punish Spurs for a serious foul play offence.

Just before the break, Rodrigo Bentancur went clattering into Chelsea captain Reece James, leaving the England international writhing on the floor in pain.

Referee Gillett opted to book the midfielder rather than show him a red card.
