‘Chelsea to pay settlement figure for Liam Rosenior in May – He’s the most underwhelming appointment’
Liam Rosenior has already been tipped for a short period in charge at Stamford Bridge as the revolving door continues to spin at Chelsea.
Chelsea have already announced Rosenior’s appointment, with the club and Enzo Maresca parting ways after 18 months in charge, having lifted the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup.
Football Insider understood that Gary O’Neil had been offered the Strasbourg job as his successor, with the former Wolves boss already signing his deal, but Chelsea fans are far more focused on their own appointment.
Xavi, Frank Lampard, and Oliver Glasner had all been linked with Chelsea before the 41-year-old arrived in West London, which is likely why there is already a lot of scepticism emerging around the move.
Richard Keys had already blasted the idea of Rosenior being the manager at Stamford Bridge, but now that the details of his contract have emerged, the presenter is in disbelief.

Liam Rosenior deal causes astonishment at Stamford Bridge
Todd Boehly and Co. have handed the new manager a deal until the summer of 2032, currently six years away, and in the last years, the Blues have gone through five bosses in the dugout.
Responding to the news, Keys wrote: “A six-year deal for Rosenior. Why? He can’t be on much, and the settlement figure must be tiny. Chelsea will be paying it in May. Trust me on this.
“Chelsea fans, this has to be the most underwhelming appointment they could’ve made.”
It is fair to say that Keys is far from a fan of the appointment. There was always a sense that Rosenior was the Blues’ man due to the BlueCo links, but that has not stopped supporters from disagreeing with it.
One Chelsea player will be thrilled by Rosenior’s arrival
While many supporters will be disappointed by the manager news, Andrey Santos will be looking forward to working with Rosenior again following their time together at Strasbourg.
Much like Kobbie Mainoo will be celebrating Ruben Amorim‘s departure, Santos has struggled for minutes under Maresca, with Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez ahead of him.
With Cole Palmer returning to the fray after weeks off injured, the Brazilian has no hope of valuable minutes in the first-team lineup, at least not until now.
During his full season at Strasbourg, the midfielder made 34 appearances, notching 11 goals and four assists, and Rosenior will want to unlock the same player in the Premier League.
