‘Chelsea to sack Enzo Maresca now’ – fans erupt

Chelsea fans are calling for Enzo Maresca to be dismissed from his role as manager following the heavy defeat to Brighton at the Amex.

Maresca’s side fell to a 3-0 defeat away from home after goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh had the hosts 2-0 up at half-time.

Minteh found his second goal of the game to seal the victory after 63 minutes, as Brighton dominated the game despite their lesser possession.

As a result, large sections of the travelling supporters have begun to turn their frustrations towards the manager, who is no longer getting the best out of his players.

Chelsea failed to hit the target with a single shot at the Amex, while last weekend’s cup clash at the same venue saw their only goal come courtesy of a goalkeeping error.

The Blues have now won just three of their last 11 games across all competitions, and some supporters have highlighted a clear drop in the players’ performances.

That has led to suggestions that they are no longer playing for Maresca, while others insisted his rigid structure and style fails to get the best out of his available options.

It now appears Chelsea fans are experiencing the same concerns just seven months into his tenure and have begun calling for his head.

Meanwhile, the money that has been spent on assembling his team only for Maresca to repeatedly insist that they are not the finished article yet, has raised further issues.

Chelsea’s ownership model has also attracted plenty of stick in recent weeks, with many also calling for Todd Boehly and the directors to step down as a result of the transfer failings.

However, it is Maresca who continues to bare the brunt of the criticism, and many at Stamford Bridge have been left feeling that his time may be up.

Taking to social media following the 3-0 defeat against Brighton, fans made their frustrations known as the manager was labelled “abysmal” and “arrogant”.
