‘Chelsea to submit Tyrique George offer as rivals swoop’

Chelsea are planning to offer a new long-term contract to Tyrique George and will hold talks over a new deal during the off-season.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Blues want to reward the 19-year-old for an impressive season.

George’s current contract is set to run until 2027, having signed a new deal last year, but Chelsea are keen to ensure his long-term future remains at Stamford Bridge.

This comes as a number of clubs both domestically and in Europe are said to have been keeping an eye on his performances with a potential deal in mind.

Enzo Maresca views him as a valuable part of his long-term plans after featuring heavily in what has proved to be a breakout year for the winger.

George has made 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season and scored his first Premier League goal against Fulham on 20 April.

Tyrique George praised for impressive Chelsea breakthrough

George has received high praise from Chelsea teammates for his performances this season, and has established himself as a key part of Maresca’s first-team squad.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and development after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, revealed the Blues are now looking to tie him down long-term.

He’s a very impressive young player who has had a top season,” he told Football Insider.

“When you’ve got a young player who’s come through the side, done well, and shown that sort of promise, you want to get him tied down.

“No matter who they’re playing for, there is always interest in young talents.

“Clubs in the Premier League and in Europe will be looking at him and assessing his availability, we’ve seen a few young players move to Germany for example.

“If he only has a year or two left on his deal, they’ll be making plans to tempt him away.

“So from what I hear, Chelsea are planning to offer him a new long-term deal.

“They’ll sit down with him at the end of the season and see if they can reach an agreement.

“It’s a reward for how well he has done this season, but it should also put them in a stronger position with regard to his future at the club.

“The manager sees him as part of his plans for the future, and I’m sure he’ll be happy to stay.”

Tottenham plot £30million swoop for Renato Veiga

While plans are being put in place to keep George at the club, Chelsea are planning to cash in on other first-team stars when the transfer window opens.

Football Insider revealed Chelsea will accept £30million offers for Renato Veiga this summer amid interest from the likes of Tottenham.

Sources say the Blues want to make a quick profit on Veiga after he was signed from Basel for £12million just 12 months ago, and loaned to Juventus in January.

However, Spurs are unlikely to get a deal over the line this summer as the Blues are reluctant to do business with a direct rival.
