‘Chelsea to terminate Romeo Lavia’s contract’ – fans erupt
Chelsea fans have turned their frustrations on Romeo Lavia following Enzo Maresca’s latest update on the midfielder’s fitness.
Lavia has endured a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge since making the switch from Southampton last season.
The 21-year-old has managed just 14 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea since his move, with his time at the club plagued by injuries.
Chelsea supporters have previously criticised Lavia for his lack of impact, particularly given his £58 million price tag, as they fought off competition from Liverpool to secure his signature.
Persistent hamstring issues have kept him sidelined for much of this campaign, restricting him to just 13 appearances before he finally returned for an eight-minute cameo against Arsenal in the previous fixture.
However, Maresca’s latest fitness update has only added to fans’ frustration, with many questioning whether Lavia will ever get a consistent run in the team.

Romeo Lavia suffers another injury setback
Enzo Maresca confirmed in his latest pre-match press conference that Lavia has suffered yet another setback in his recovery.
He said: “He was making good progress, but unfortunately, one or two days ago, he had a small problem, so we will see in the next hours.”
Lavia’s persistent injury troubles have prevented him from building any momentum at Chelsea, and with Enzo Fernandez thriving in midfield at Chelsea, alongside Moises Caicedo, his chances of regular game time look increasingly slim even when he does return.
Andrey Santos is also expected to return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Strasbourg this summer, adding further competition to an already crowded midfield.

Chelsea fans call for Romeo Lavia’s contract to be ‘terminated’ after latest injury
The midfielder has played just 628 minutes for Chelsea since his debut in 2023, a stark contrast to his influential role at Southampton during the 2022/23 season.
His time at Stamford Bridge has been blighted by injuries, suffering three separate hamstring setbacks this season alone, which have ruled him out for 19 games.
Last season, he was sidelined for 43 matches due to four different injuries, leading many Chelsea fans to lose patience with his continued absences.
Some supporters have now called for the club to cut their losses, with one saying: “Lavia is finished. Terminate [his] contract” while another added: “Chelsea should bear their loss and release this guy.”
