Chelsea told to submit new Wesley Fofana bid after giants twist - pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Chelsea will be “wary” of missing out on another centre-back target as Paris Saint-Germain are linked with Wesley Fofana.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Leicester could be receptive of a big-money sale as they look to balance the books.
According to French outlet Le Parisien (8 August), Paris Saint-Germain could scupper Chelsea’s plan to bring Fofana to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The London Evening Standard claims (9 August) the Londoners are preparing a third bid for the defender after their latest offer of £70million was rebuffed.
Leicester are understood to need to sell in order to raise funds for transfers of their own this summer, due to their “not ideal” financial predicament.
Fofana started on the right side of a back three as Leicester surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Brentford on Sunday (7 August).

Whelan claimed Chelsea are “desperate” to add more centre-backs despite signing versatile ace Marc Cucurella in the last week.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “They’ve already missed out on Kounde, their top target.
“They’ll be very wary of another European club coming in and taking Fofana right under their noses too.
“Fofana is incredible, obviously a top talent, he’s been talked about by many clubs, not just Chelsea.
“They’re desperate for centre-halves through the door, but I think we know Leicester will sell one big player per season – just like they did with Harry Maguire.
“Selling Fofana could allow them to bring new players in as well as reject bids for other players like Maddison.”
