Chelsea transfer news: Two more first-XI stars now set to leave – sources

Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah are set to leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the pair are likely to exit this summer.

He explained that despite coming into the side recently and doing well under Mauricio Pochettino, defensive ace Chalobah could be sold due to financial fair play (FFP) issues in West London.

Having come through the club’s academy, the 24-year-old would represent pure profit if he was sold, with the Blues finding themselves in a position whereby they need to sacrifice home-grown players to help balance their books.

O’Rourke told Football Insider that the centre-back looked like leaving the club last summer, only to remain at Stamford Bridge for another campaign.

In January, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Fulham were eyeing a late deal for the defender, sources told Football Insider, who is viewed as a sellable asset by Chelsea.

Striker Broja meanwhile is currently on loan at Fulham, with O’Rourke explaining that the temporary move has not worked out.

Chelsea are now willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old, who will fall further down the pecking order this summer as the Blues look to sign a new striker.

Another academy graduate, Broja needs to move on at the end of the season in order to salvage his career, O’Rourke told Football Insider.

In addition, Conor Gallagher is also set to leave Chelsea after coming through the ranks of the club, with talks over a contract extension stalling.
