Chelsea will ‘pay over the odds’ to sign Michael Olise – sources
Chelsea are pushing ahead in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, sources have told Football Insider.
Olise, 22, is a long-term target for the Blues – who wanted to sign him last summer (2023), before he signed a fresh four-year contract.
The France Under-21 international has a release clause worth around £60million in his Palace deal – but that price is available only to Champions League clubs.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Chelsea, who will play Uefa Conference League football next term, may therefore have to “pay over the odds” to get their man.
Negotiations are yet to occur between the two clubs over a potential fee – but sources say Palace will do “everything they can” to keep Olise.
Chelsea could be forced to pay big-money Olise fee as Bayern swoop
Newcastle and Bayern Munich are among the other sides to be linked with a potential swoop for the electric attacker.
Olise made just 14 starts in 19 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign due to a string of injuries.
Nevertheless, he still recorded 10 goals and six assists in those outings – all of which came in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 June) that Raheem Sterling could depart this summer if Olise is signed.
Competition in the winger spots will be high if the Palace star signs and sources say Chelsea could be willing to let one wide player leave.
