Chris Sutton claims that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will leave the club if they lose their upcoming FA Cup fifth-round tie.
The Gunners travel to non-league side Sutton United in the cup on 20 February and will be overwhelming favourites to progress.
The north London club have a league match against Hull and a Champions League last 16 first leg with Bayern Munich to look forward to before the cup fixture.
However, a group of Arsenal supporters have been calling for Wenger to leave the Emirates in recent years as the club have failed to win the Premier League title since the 2003/04 season.
The long-serving French manager is set to make a decision on his future at the end of the season, when his current contract is set to expire.
Sutton made the huge comment that Wenger, who has been at the helm for nearly 21 years, will leave the club if he fails to progress in the FA Cup, with their league and European hopes very slim.
“If Arsenal lose, Arsene Wenger goes,” Sutton told the Mail. “How can he survive if they get knocked out by a non-League team?
“Are Arsenal going to win the Champions League? Not for me. Are they going to finish in the top four? That is really debatable. This match is huge.”
The Gunners have seen their title aspirations crushed recently with back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Watford.
They are now 12 points adrift of leaders Chelsea and are extremely unlikely to catch the tale toppers.
Meanwhile, Wenger’s side have been pitted against one of the favourites for the Champions League crown and will start as underdogs against German giants Bayern.
Suttton claims that Wenger is under immense pressure to avoid a huge upset against non-league Sutton as the FA Cup provides their best chance for a trophy this season.
The 67 -year-old has caused a huge divide among supporters of “Wenger in” or “Wenger out”and his decision to renew his contract could be taken away from him if they are eliminated from the cup.
In other Arsenal news, a reliable journalist has shred when Mohamed Elneny will return to the team.
