Chris Sutton delivers brutal instant reaction to Celtic’s defeat to Hearts
Celtic’s season is turning sour as the Hoops’ grip on the Scottish Premiership title is slipping away after defeat at Hearts.
Hearts defeated Celtic 3-1 at Tynecastle to leave the champions eight points behind after nine games.
Reo Hatate was slammed by Celtic fans for his display, as many stars underperformed in the biggest league game of the season so far.
Celtic‘s lack of squad depth and quality showed again, with the future of Brendan Rodgers still uncertain and fans frustrations increasing.

Chris Sutton questions Celtic stars
Rodgers was without numerous first team players due to injury, but Celtic still had enough on the pitch to be able to beat Hearts.
However, the hosts seemed to want the win more and gave Celtic a torrid afternoon in the capital.
After the match, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton posted his reaction on X aiming a dig at Rodgers after he called his team a Honda Civic after the defeat at Dundee.
Sutton, [26 October] said: “Hearts deserved it. Streetwise, organised and better forward player than Celtic.
| Stat/Club | Hearts | Celtic |
| Possession | 35% | 65% |
| Total Shots | 12 | 8 |
| Shots on target | 7 | 2 |
| Big Chances | 2 | 1 |
“This Celtic team are a shambles. How many Celtic players would get into the Hearts team right now?
“Hearts will never get a better chance to win the league… Celtic not even a Honda Civic today…”
Hearts could open up 11 point gap next weekend
Presuming that both Hearts and Celtic win their midweek fixtures against St Mirren and Falkrik respectively, the Jambos could open up an 11 point gap next weekend.
Celtic are in Scottish League Cup semi-final action against Rangers, whilst Hearts will host Dundee in the Premiership.
Such a huge advantage would be tough for Celtic to overturn, even this early in the season.
Celtic fans may take some hope though from the fact that Hearts’ only defeat in all competitions this season has come at St Mirren in the cup.
