Chris Sutton delivers his verdict on Celtic after win against St Johnstone

Chris Sutton has hailed Celtic for going 26 domestic games unbeaten after their 1-0 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.

Brendan Rodgers side equalled the Lisbon Lions’ unbeaten record when Dedryck Boyata headed home in the second half.

The win on home soil also means that the Bhoys go 22 points clear in the table as they edge closer to lifting yet another Scottish crown.

After the game, former striker Sutton expressed his delight and congratulations to Rodgers team as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Congratulation to Brendan Rodgers and his team,” said Sutton. “Outstanding to equal the Lions record. I didn’t see that coming a year ago.”

Rodgers side have won 20 of their 21 games in the Scottish Premiership this season, including picking up wins against Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Additionally, they also lifted the Scottish League Cup in November when the Bhoys outclassed Aberdeen to secure a 3-0 win.

However, despite success on the domestic scene, the Scottish champions did finish bottom of their Champions League group earlier on in the campaign.

Celtic failed to win a single game in six matches as they were also thumped 7-0 by La Liga giants Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Nonetheless, they will look to continue their good run on the domestic scene when they take on Hearts in front of their own supporters on Sunday.

Rodgers side have won their last nine games in all competitions, last dropping points in Europe against Premier League outfit Manchester City.
