Chris Sutton delivers one word verdict on Leeds performance after FA Cup loss

By Amir Mir

Chris Sutton has stated that Leeds’ performance against Sutton was “embarrassing” alongside other of the big names to have been knocked out of the FA Cup this weekend.

Garry Monk’s side lost 1-0 to the non-league outfit as Paul Doswell’s men secured one of the most remarkable wins in their history.

The Imps fully deserved the win at Gander Green Lane as they now progress through to the next round where they will be hoping to come up against another big name team.

The Whites were one of a number of big clubs to have been knocked out at the fourth-round stage.

Former Premier League striker Sutton was not too pleased with their performances but he praised the display of the home team as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Another brilliant performance from Sutton,” said Sutton. “Superb for the National League. Embarrassing weekend for so many big clubs.”

Another non-league side to cause an upset was Lincon City after they knocked out Leeds’ Championship rivals Brighton on Saturday.

Furthermore, League One Millwall clinched a 1-0 win against Premier League side Watford while League One side Oxford thrashed Rafa Benitez’ Newcastle 3-0.

Monk’s side will now look to put the defeat behind them and turn to Championship matters as they are hoping to secure promotion to the Premier League.

By contrast, the Imps will be turning their attention to the National League matters and hoping they draw a Premier League club in the fifth round.
