Chris Sutton delivers three-word verdict on Celtic defeat v Hearts

Chris Sutton has praised Celtic after their 69-match unbeaten domestic run was brought to an end in emphatic style with a 4-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle, but described the result as a “wake-up call” for January.

The Hoops legend congratulated Hearts and their manager Craig Levein for their performance, in what was a stunning victory. He also heaped praise on Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic side after their remarkable run was brought to an end.

However, Sutton also admitted that the defeat had been coming and described it as a “wake-up call” for the second part of the season.

First-half goals from 16-year-old Harry Cochrane and Kyle Lafferty put the home side in control at Tynecastle. Things went from bad to worse for the Hoops three minutes after half-time with David Milinkovic making it 3-0.

Hearts were then awarded a penalty after goalkeeper Craig Gordon brought down Ross Callachan and Milinkovic made it 4-0 by smashing the spot-kick into the corner of the net.

Rodgers led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League treble last season and the loss at Tynecastle was his first defeat as Hoops manager against Scottish opposition.

Celtic remain top of the Scottish Premiership, two points clear of second-placed Aberdeen with a game in hand.

In other Celtic news, Hoops fans were furious with this player for his performance in the defeat at Tynecastle.
