Chris Sutton delivers verdict as Rangers saga with Warburton continues following statement

Chris Sutton has stated that there are “more questions than answers” in the Rangers and Mark Warburton saga.

Former Gers boss Warburton delivered a statement on Wednesday claiming he did not resign from his managerial post at Ibrox.

The Glasgow-based club revealed on Friday that the Englishman, along with his backroom staff, had resigned from their jobs as the saga between the duo continues.

Graeme Murty was in charge of the club during their last fixture as his side narrowly beat minnows, Greenock Morton to qualify through to the next stage of the Scottish Cup.

Nonetheless, former Celtic striker Sutton had his say on the Warburton issue as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“King was an opportunist,” said Sutton. “But is Warburton’s agent a secret agent? Does he work independently? More questions than answers.”

Former Brentford boss Warburton took charge of the club in 2015 as he guided them to promotion last season.

During that run, they beat their Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup on penalties, but have subsequently been beaten on a number of occasions since their return to the top flight.

Brendan Rodgers side inflicted a 5-1 defeat on their bitter enemies in September, before knocking them out of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden.

Those two wins were followed by three more points in the Gers’ backyard on New Year’s Eve as the Hoops lead the SPL table by a mammoth 27 points.
