Rangers

Chris Sutton has dropped a huge hint on Twitter that Steven Gerrard could soon be announced as the new Rangers manager.

Celtic legend Sutton has suggested Gerrard could be set to make an announcement about his future during BT Sport’s coverage of Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich tonight.

Gerrard is one of the leading pundits for the broadcaster’s coverage of Europe’s elite competition and Sutton has teased on his personal Twitter account that the Liverpool icon could reveal all on the rumours linking him to the now-vacant Ibrox post.

Football Insider verdict:

Sutton is the ultimate wind-up merchant, especially when it comes to goading Rangers fans. He has not been short of material in recent years, with the blizzard of events at Ibrox proving cannon fodder for the ex-Bhoy. Yet, he is certainly likely to have heard a few titbits behind the scenes, given that he works for BT Sport along with Gerrard. The Liverpool icon is scheduled to work as a pundit for Tuesday night’s Champions League coverage, when he is bound to be asked – even in the gentlest possible terms – for the latest on the Rangers job by host Gary Lineker. Gerrard is not one to duck a question, but if negotiations are still ongoing and there are points to be ironed out, he may offer a deadbat response by way of a sly grin and a politician’s answer.

In other Rangers news, the club have sealed two new signings and three more are in the pipeline in an ASTONISHING transfer blitz before the window even opens.
