Chris Sutton: Celtic to go big in summer transfer window

Chris Sutton has backed Celtic to do big things in the summer transfer window after Brendan Rodgers signed a new four-year deal.
Rodgers, 44, put pen to paper after a glittering first season in Scottish football that could see Celtic complete the treble, after securing the Scottish Premiership and League Cup.
Former Bhoys striker Sutton claimed in the Daily Record that progress in Europe will be a real marker of Rodgers’ improvement during the 2017-18 campaign.
Sutton also claimed that it will be interesting to see who Celtic sign in the transfer window, now that former Liverpool boss Rodgers has the backing of the board following his new deal.
“It will be fascinating to see his transfer-market activity in the summer now that it’s clear he has the trust and the backing of the board,” Sutton said. “He has transformed the club.

“Make no mistake, he would not have signed this new deal without assurances that he will be given the funds he needs to strengthen the squad to equip him to achieve their next goals.
“Progress in Europe in terms of continued presence in the Champions League will be top of those goals.”
Celtic earned their sixth Scottish Premiership title in a row last time out, as they smashed Hearts 5-0 on Tynecastle to be confirmed as champions with seven games still to go.
With the League Cup already secured, Celtic will also be looking to progress to the final of the Scottish Cup with a semi-final against Old Firm rivals Rangers in their way.
Celtic next face Kilmarnock on Parkhead on Saturday, as they look to maintain their unbeaten league form and close in on the points record set by themselves in 2001-02 of 103 points.
